Shoppers Stop - Discounts on Online Shopping

Now since Shoppers Stop is very close to my place, I always visit the store when I need to shop. But I just discovered that they have this 24x7 online shopping system. And guess what, Shoppers Stop offers free home delivery (limited period) and special discounts on several items when you shop online. Now who's gonna wait for that Sale period!

So today (May 19, 2011), I noticed there are offers on a whole range of things. Here are some examples:

Timex watches: 20% off on MRP until 26th June 2011
Pretty Woman accessories: 10% off
Sparkles jewellery: Upto 50% off
Zaveri Pearls: Special offers on purchase of 3-5 sets
Revlon: A table clock free on purchase of products worth of Rs1000

Hypercity Wednesday Deals

It's Wednesday again - Time for shopping at Hypercity!
Why today? Well, Hypercity comes up with these special deals and discounts on Wednesdays which I believe are pretty decent.

Are the Hypercity Wednesday Deals worthwhile? Well, I have been shopping for groceries, personal care products, home decor stuff etc. from malls as well as other supermarkets and stores (the individual shops) in Vashi. So I have a fair idea if the stuff is really on discount or have they just tagged it as a deal. And my conclusion is that the deals at this supermarket are really worthwhile.

Here's an example. I had my grocery-waala deliver 1 kg onions at my home a couple of days ago. The cost of onions (that he argued is fair) was rs 14 per kg! That the onions were not very good is another thing. Now I got this newsletter from Hypercity today and here's what they have to offer:
Onion Red 1 kg: Current price Rs 12, Wednesday price Rs 9.9!

This is true for most of the products, like the seasonal fruit Mango Badami is available today for Rs 75 per kg.

Now here's an important tip if you really want to enjoy the deals:
Don't wait till the end of the day to shop at Hypercity. You see, the best veggies on offer would have be already picked by others by then. Morning and afternoon would be a good time to shop here.

Sarees, salwaar kameez, lehengas, dress materials, kids' wear, sherwanis, home furnishings, bags, imitation jewellery, gold jewellery, home decor, footwear... you name it and Malad's famous Natraj market (Mumbai) has it all. But the best part is that you get all of this at the most reasonable prices and you enjoy an amazing variety. It's one-of-its-kind experience to shop at these little shops and end up returning with a dozen shopping bags! I have never returned from the Natraj market without lifting heavy shopping bags.

Natraj Market is ideal for wedding and festival shopping, whatever your budget be! Trust me, if you find an exquisite saree costing Rs 30000 elsewhere in Mumbai, you will definitely find a much better one around Rs 20000 here. If you have a budget of Rs 5000, you'll still find a great trousseau! All you need to do is hop into these shops and tell what's your budget. They will show you a wide array of designs that perfectly fit your budget.

Note: Saturdays and Sundays are obviously crowded, so are all evenings.

Shoppers Stop is currently buzzing with up to 51% sale across its stores. I visited Shoppers Stop stores at Inorbit Malls in Malad and Vashi and was more than thrilled. The best part is that these guys offer a great variety and we need not choose from just 10-15 options of outfits we've seen someone wearing somewhere. And the stores are so huge, we really need some energy if we are serious about shopping a lot.

Of course, one thing happens with me every time during such sales. I end up liking something or the other a lot and of all the things that one thing has no discount attached to it. So I bought this super cure Swarovski crystal without any discount at all.

More than the sale every year, I love the fact that my husband has First Citizen card (some Golden Glow stuff). So that extra 5% discount on whatever I purchase makes me go WOW! Loving the fact that the sale ends just before my birthday, so I can easily indulge in shopping till drop :)

Karigar store at Inorbit in Vashi, Navi Mumbai

Karigar is an amazing ethnic store. It is located at Inorbit Mall in Vashi, on the ground level. Karigar has such lovely home decor and gifting items, you would want to buy them all.

Products at Karigar are not very reasonably priced, but then if you buy the stuff it has, people would definitely ask that question you love to hear, "Where did you buy it from?"

D Mart – Reasonable Stuff, Unreasonable Rule

D Mart stores in Navi Mumbai (New Bombay) are quite a boon when it comes to grocery shopping. The rates are reasonable and the variety is decent.

But there’s one thing I find completely unreasonable – they seal your handbag in a rather shabby looking zip-locked bag before you enter the store. So, in case you are carrying a couple of mobile phones or wish to listen to music with your headphones while shopping, you are in a fix (especially if you are wearing a salwaar kameez or saree). Now whether to keep both your hands busy carrying the stuff you came with or to indulge in hands-free shopping is the question.

Something needs to be done about that. D Mart guys, are you listening?

Inorbit and Hypercity in Vashi

Love both these malls!!! Love more the fact that Inorbit and Hypercity have opened up in Vashi!

Before getting married I used to wonder if I would miss my regular hangout places. But perhaps these malls loved me equally and decided to open up near my new home. What's more exciting is that Vashi's Inorbit and Hypercity malls are much more spacious and not very crowded. The security here is very impressive along with the fact that these malls have decent number of emergency exits.

Will write more about them later. I need to prepare my shopping list for the weekend ;)

Ice cream at Baskin Robbins

The Classic Banana Split at Baskin Robbins is so so so yummy and the presentation is so beautiful you wonder whether to admire the beautiful look of the sundae or to indulge in it.

Another interesting aspect is that they have provided complete nutrition facts of every ice cream on their website. Kudos to the Baskin Robbins guys. I am so impressed.

Choice, deals, convenience... there's yet another thing that the malls offer without actually trying to. And this one's the greatest offer they surprise you with. Yes, it's bumping into your friends. More often than not, I end up meeting some or the other lost-in-touch-with friend. And trust me, that makes the most of my shopping expedition!

Palm Beach Galleria and City Center Mall, Vashi

I visited these stunning malls last weekend. Both the malls stand next to each other like siblings. They both are huge, both have movie multiplexes - Adlabs and CineMax, both offer great options to shop and eat!

However, I was disappointed with City Center, Vashi, for just one thing. The elevators don't halt at level 1 (and I think level 2 as well). So if there are pregnant ladies, old people, physically challenged people or just anyone who is very tired and scared of escalators, they are in a mess. If one of these reach at level 4 and then need to come to level 1, there's not much that they can do but struggle on the stairs to reach their destination. I think the mall must do something about this. I don't understand why the lifts don't halt at level 1!

Shopping at Pantaloons, Santacruz, Mumbai

Last week I visited the Pantaloons store in Santacruz, Mumbai. I prefer to shop at the Pantaloons' Lower Parel store. But this one in Santacruz is a new store and I went with great expectations.

Review:

The collection as expected is not very typical like what you come across in most of the shopping malls.
However, if you opt for the small / medium size in ladies garments, well, there's not much you'll like.
For kids' shopping, it's a complete satisfaction. I loved taht section of the store that I almost was about to purchase a stuff toy or two from there.
If you are a female and a Pantaloons store fan, I suggest you visit the Lower Parel store for a greater variety and a better experience.

Another shopping day at Hypercity

Diwali! Just another reason to shop, isn't it! So the other evening when I was getting really bored of the 4-day vacation, I decided to indulge in some just-for-time-pass shopping at the nearby Hypercity mall.

I love the idea of being in that super spacious mall and spend some time with just myself and my shopping. The mall, as expected during the festive season, was pretty much busy that day. Amidst the various amazing offers and deals, along with the well planned layout of the mall, it's impossible that you exit without purchasing anything at all.

Shopping Mall Review:
The customer care is surprisingly helpful as well. While almost everyone had a trolley overloaded with impulsive as well as some necessary shopping items, I was conservative enough to opt for a few things in my basket! I think Hypercity has some 25 odd cash counters. So while I was looking around for a smaller queue, a gentleman from Hypercity walked up to me and asked me to come out at a special customer care section ahead of the cash counters. Wow! I must say I was truly impressed. What I observed at that section was that there they had invited some people with minimal shopping items so that they don't waste their time awaiting their turn behind those who had done tons and tons of shopping.

Well, if you want to feel special and peaceful after indulging in shopping, i recommend you visit Hypercity at least once.
